Wainwrights in The Central Fells

These are the 27 Wainwrights that lie in the Central Fells — 27 of the 214 on the full list. The highest is High Raise (Langdale) at 2,500 feet (762 metres); the lowest is Loughrigg Fell at 1,099 feet (335 metres).

The Wainwrights are the 214 Lake District fells described by Alfred Wainwright in his seven Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells, published between 1955 and 1966. They are not defined by height or prominence — they are simply the fells Wainwright chose to write up. Walking all 214 is one of Britain's best-known hillwalking challenges.

How many Wainwrights are in the Central Fells?

There are 27, out of 214 on the full list.

Do these count towards other lists?

Often, yes. A summit can belong to several lists at once, and marking it in WayMark counts it towards every list it belongs to.
